Modern Baby Aran Knitting Pattern
August is a fun baby and toddler cardigan knitting pattern made with aran yarn. The chunkier yarn means it works up super quick.
This is an easy cardigan knitted flat in garter stitch. It is knitted sideways starting with one sleeve then working across the cardigan’s body and finishing with the other sleeve.
The pattern comes with photos which show you the stages of the cardigan being knit (all the photos feature on one page so if you want to print the pattern you can save ink by skipping this page).
The written pattern also gives you access to video tutorials to help you with several techniques featured in the pattern if you need them.
Sizes: 0-3 (3-6 : 6-9 : 9-12 : 12-18 : 18-24) months. The pattern features a schematic with measurements.
Yarn: Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran – 2 (2 : 2 : 2 : 2 : 3) balls or 212 ( 244 : 274 : 319 : 360 : 405) metres.
Alternative yarns can be used, including Stylecraft Special Aran, Sirdar Snuggly Supersoft Aran and King Cole Big Value Aran.
Recommended needles: 4.5mm (US 7) circular needle – 60cm long. You will knit straight with the circular needle
Gauge: 18 sts x 36 rows = 10cm / 4in on 4.5mm (US 7) needles
You will also need:
1 x 15mm button
Stitch holder or scrap yarn
At least one stitch marker
